Passengers on many airlines may have to sit in the seats that are located close to the toilets if they don’t want to pay out more for a premium seat when they make their booking. The US, UK and Australia boast many airlines that allow passengers to pay a fee of anything from $5 to $36 to reserve their seat but it looks set to become more common that customers must pay for the ‘premium’ seats that are away from the toilets. Window seats are of course, the favourite place for many to sit and passengers can expect to soon be paying more for the privilege of the nice view.

With more and more airlines adding on additional costs for extras it is inevitable that they would soon be charging customers an increased rate for preferential seating. As of next year, anyone looking to sit in a fist row aisle seat or the window seat will be paying out more than for the seats in the middle of an aisle at the back of the plane. Other airlines such as Tiger Airways are already charging passengers who request their preferred seat by paying a surcharge of anything from $5 to $25 more, depending on which route they are flying.

British Airways have also joined in the controversial decision by demanding passengers pay $18 to reserve their seat that enables people to not only pre-book a preferential seat but also to secure a seat next to the person or people that they are travelling with.
