Self catering holidays growing on the marketplace
Posted on: October 16th, 2009 by Samantha WilliamsWith growing networks provided by low-cost airlines, and new travel offers springing up all the time, it come as no surprise that we are left with a few extra quid in our pocket. What we choose to do with it though, is something else. Some opt for a little more spending money while other put it away for the next trip. In a different approach, some are choosing to spend it on better accommodation like upgraded rooms and even private apartments and villas so all the comforts of home can be had when in a foreign destination.
A private villa or apartment can offer so much more than a small stuffy hotel room. As well as being able to have separate rooms for the kids to sleep, holidaymakers can relax in a lounge area or a private veranda, or, for those spending just a little more, maybe around the private pool. They can often save money as well, by having a kitchen in their holiday homes, so travellers do not have to eat out every night which is a major expense when on holiday.
Villa rental is on the increase across Europe with Spain being the most targeted place for enquiries about holiday homes. Places like Turkey, Croatia and Egypt are also seeing a boom in people looking for holiday villas for their annual break. Some holiday-home owners were worrying as the recession hit, but it has proved to be fruitful in the long run as a splurge of last minute bookings came for the months of June, July and August.
