Senator causes disturbance on airplane
Posted on: September 19th, 2008 by Andy SimpsonSenator Lesil McGuire from Alaska reportedly caused a ruckus onboard a plane earlier this month, but has argued that the incident was not her fault, but that of unhelpful flight attendants. McGuire had apparently asked to be served an alcoholic beverage, but a member of the cabin crew refused to offer her one. At this point, McGuire allegedly threw the cup of water that she had been given at one of the flight attendants. McGuire also refused to turn her BlackBerry off during the flight, even though flight attendants had asked her to do so.
Upon landing, the Republican politician was reportedly question by police about what had transpired onboard the plane. McGuire later claimed that she never threw a cup of water, but that it simply slipped from her hand. The senator also argued that one of the flight attendants seemed to have a grudge against her for the duration of the flight and said that she felt as though she was being “hunted.” Despite all this, the flight attendant in question has decided not to press charges against McGuire.
There have also been some reports that McGuire may have had too much to drink before the flight and this could have been the reason why she was not served on the plane. Police reports note that officers could smell alcohol on her breath when she was being escorted for questioning.
