Shanghai travel show focus on luxury

The organizers of the Asia Luxury Travel Market (ALTM) are expecting attendance to be strong at the event this year, at which select Asia Pacific travel buyers are linked with the most sought-after destinations around the world, with ultra-luxurious hotels and resorts, upscale transportation and unique, top-end travel experiences.

Reed Travel Exhibitions, the event organizers, commented that exhibitors were finding the show to be even more relevant this year given current economic conditions, and not simply due to the pressure to make marketing efforts more productive.

“The event is a proven platform to showcase our product to a highly targeted audience,” said Steve Odell, Silversea Cruises’ senior vice president.

“With the difficult economic climate it’s even more important to be highly visible, especially as the Asian markets are proving more resilient than others around the world,” Odell added.

The ALTM, which is in its third year, will be held from June 15-18 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre.

“It’s not all glitz but serious business connections have been initiated and developed in the last two years since ALTM started in this region,” said the director of marketing communications for COMO Hotels and Resorts, Crystal Seah.
