Silversea Cruises announced that its new cruise ship, the Silver Spirit, will sail on its debut Grand Inaugural Voyage on 21 January 2010.
The 91-day cruise is being called ‘The Spirit of South America’, and will see the Silver Spirit sail from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles, with the journey ending in New York.
Highlights of the cruise will include a stop in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival, a transit around the tip of South America at Cape Horn, an exploration of the Mexican Riviera and a Panama Canal crossing. When the ship arrives in New York Harbour a special event at the Statue of Liberty is planned.
Fares for the voyage start from £23,597 per passenger, on a double-occupancy basis. The cruise line will begin accepting reservations for the cruise on 12 January 2009.
More than 45 ports in over 20 countries and island destinations on two continents will be visited during the 91-day voyage.
Overnight stays are scheduled at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Punta Arenas, Chile, Lima, Peru, Acapulco, Mexico and Los Angeles, California.
Passengers will be invited to attend the ship-naming ceremony, a gala dinner the night before departure, which includes overnight accommodation on board and special on-shore events at selected ports of call. Special commemorative gifts and a $2,000 per-suite spending credit will also be provided by Silversea.
