Singapore Airlines earns top marks

Singapore Airlines has once again been named the world’s “best” carrier, according to a recent survey. The carrier has won first place in this survey three times over the course of the past decade and the airline was also deemed to offer passengers the highest level of service in business class cabins. The poll was conducted by a British company called Skytrax, which actually took into consideration the responses of 15 million passengers who were asked to rank their favourite airlines. In addition to Singapore Airlines, Australia’s flag carrier, Qantas, also performed very well, coming in at third place. Qantas, however, was eclipsed by Cathay Pacific, which came in right after Singapore Airlines, in second place.

Emirates also performed very well, as did Etihad Airways. Emirates, however, could boast about receiving top points for having the best in-flight entertainment system of any airline, while Qantas excelled in terms of its first class airport lounges.

Skytrax is one of the largest analysts of the international commercial air travel industry. While these annual surveys form a key part of Skytrax’s mission, the company also offers passengers a wealth of information on nearly all airlines operating anywhere in the world. Travellers are also encouraged to send in their reviews of airlines and airports, for inclusion on the firm’s site.
