Sixt Rent a Car had a really big year for expansion in 2012, and this is carrying on into 2013. While it has been launching new services in the US, including a takeover of car sharing network Zipcar, the company hasn’t forgotten about the great potential of the UK market. This has led Sixt to launching two new branches, each at Gatwick Airport and Manchester Airport.
At Gatwick Airport, Sixt Rent a Car has been awarded the right to launch on-airport locations in both terminals in the busiest single-runway airport in the world. The car hire operator is perfect to serve the 92,650 passengers that use the airport every day. Branch manager Viraz Oza, operations manager Michael Kratz and the rest of the team were ready to greet their first customers on 7 January at 6am. They even gave the first customer a free upgrade to the new Citroën DS5s.
Sixt UK managing director Paul McLoughlin says they are delighted to move into Gatwick. This is an important step in their on-going strategy to expand in the UK. Their goal is to make it as easy as possible for holidaymakers and business travellers to have access to high quality, well-specked vehicles that are supported by great service and affordable rates. They look forward to working with the Gatwick Airport team and delivering the ultimate mobility solution to its passengers.
Gatwick Airport head of surface transport said that they are thrilled to welcome Sixt, which is well known for its unique approach to customer service. They look forward to working with them closely to deliver even better passenger experiences. Gatwick is one of few airports offering direct access to car hire pickup points from the terminal, and they aim to double car hire usage and offer passengers more choice.
To celebrate the Gatwick Airport launch, Sixt is offering customers as much as 20% off rentals. This deal is valid on rentals picked up between now and 28 February 2013. The bookings for these hires have to be made by 31 January 2013.
At Manchester Airport, Sixt will be serving its nearly 23 million annual passengers. This new office will be open 7am to 11pm every day, including weekends and holidays; but customers will be able to return a rental any time. The car hire operator is committed to helping travellers find their way around the city with practical information as well. The branch is also providing a free shuttle bus service, which runs 24 hours a day and drives to all of the airport’s terminals.
Car hire customers will be able to choose a rental from a wide range of vehicles – small economy cars, two-doors, vans, minibuses, SUVs, convertibles, luxury vehicles, etc. It doesn’t matter if a holidaymaker needs a family vehicle or a business traveller wants something flashy to impress clients. Sixt has the perfect vehicle they need, and at an affordable price. On top of this, the car rental operator has daily and weekly specials to save their customers even more. Travellers only need to ask staff for more information.
