Germany’s Sixt, one of Europe’s premiere car rental firms, is trying to make the reservation process a little more hassle free and much more convenient for renters by allowing bookings to be arranged not only from one’s home computer, but also from a range of handheld electronic devices. Sixt launched its new mobile booking service earlier this year, which includes a special site (www.mobil.sixt.de ), which has been configured especially for those looking to arrange their reservation from cell phones, blackberries or other devices. This site has been created in such a manner that it can automatically adapt to the device being used to access the page, in order to ensure optimal display of text and images.
The reservation system is available in several languages, and Sixt points out that it offers users a number of important advantages. First, clients who book online have much more freedom and flexibility when selecting a vehicle, rental terms, conditions, dates and upgrades, than if they are forced to arrange a reservation through Sixt’s call center. Busy businesspeople will no longer have to call Sixt in order to reserve a car from noisy airports and language barriers, which may have made reservations tricky for many clients in the past, no longer pose a challenge for renters.
Sixt is based near the town of Munich, in southern Germany, and has been in the automobile business since 1912. As such, Sixt can pride itself as one of Europe’s oldest car hire firms. The company is now present in some 82 countries and operates a total of 3,500 outlets around the world.
