Sixt Opens Côte d’Ivoire Location

Sixt Rent A Car LogoSixt has expanded its presence in Africa to offer its comfortable and flexible mobility solutions in Côte d’Ivoire, a small country in West Africa, from June 1. This new launch has moved the company one step closer to its goal of opening the continent to travel. This comes shortly after the car hire operator started offering its services in Kenya. It already has stations in Egypt, Libya, Mauritius, Nigeria, Tanzania, Angola, Sudan, Mozambique, Tunisia, Morocco, South Africa and Madagascar as well.

Initially, Sixt has launched its mobility solutions at the Port Bouet Airport and a location next to the airport located downtown. Abidjan is the formal capital of Côte d’Ivoire, but it’s the nation’s largest city and is still the political and economic centre, with the strongest economy in the West African Economic and Monetary Union. The car rental operator plans to open another station in inner city Abidjan this autumn and to expand to Yamoussoukro, the nation’s capital, this year as well.

The tourist sector in Côte d’Ivoire has a lot of potential, as it has a long coastline of beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. The country also has several national parks, which are part of a world heritage area. There are a large number of different people who live in the West African nation, and they offer diverse cultures. All of these attractions will be accessible to holidaymakers now through Sixt’s mobility solutions.

Consumers will now be able to book vehicles in Côte d’Ivoire for classic single-day rentals to long-term hires that last for several weeks. Vehicles that Sixt customers will be able to hire include the Mercedes A-Class, medium-class C-Class and premium E-Class and S-Class models. It also offers the M-Class SUV and a large van in its Côte d’Ivoire fleet. Anyone who needs a rental for a wedding will also find what they need.

Sixt Côte d’Ivoire general manager Guy-Roland Kinanhia Ouassenan says they are looking forward to kicking off their car rental partnership with Sixt. Their staff have a very high degree of responsibility and dedication, and they are total professionals. The workers represent the kind of professional values they look for in a franchise partner, and they are confident they will be able to manage and expand their franchise business successfully with a little help from the group’s extensive international experience, he added.

Sixt Rent a Car head of franchise department Detlef Krehahn says starting up a station network in Côte d’Ivoire is an entry point for the company into an intriguing, growing tourist market. It also demonstrates that the company is making a lot of progress in meeting its goal to expand its international presence. The launch in Côte d’Ivoire will help the group open up the African continent even more, he added.

Sixt was founded in 1912 in Munich, Germany by Martin Sixt and now has a presence in over 105 countries through its franchisees and partners. The rental company is a market leader for car hire in Germany and Austria, and it’s one of the largest OEM-manufacturer-independent full-service leasing providers. Last year, the company generated a £1.56 billion turnover and employed about 3,000 people around the world.
