On 11 October, Sixt announced the opening of a new car hire branch in Phoenix, Arizona. This marks the first time that the rental provider has expanded its presence to a western state in the US. Travellers will find this new location at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, which now offers a range of affordable car hires. This move is in line with the company’s target market.
Phoenix is the US’s sixth most populated city and is a key destination that serves as a gateway to popular travel destinations like Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Opening this new location at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport will allow Sixt to take advantage of the country’s rental market. This is one of the ten busiest airports in the US, which serves more than 700,000 passengers each week. The rental branch at this location will be open all day, every day – no matter what time a passenger’s flight departs or arrives.
As the leading car rental firm in Germany, Sixt has over 4,500 locations across Europe and in the US’s southeast. With the new Phoenix branch added into the equation, the company now operates locations in seven US destinations. Its other branches can be found in Orlando, Miami, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta.
Sixt is happy to be bringing affordable car hires to consumers in this new market. Renters will now be able to choose from a range of vehicles, including convertibles, sedans, SUVs and vans. The company offers a unique, eco-friendly and economical fleet that features the Hyundai Accent, as well as luxury vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Sixt Phoenix branch manager Brian Hughes brings 12 years of rental experience to the location and is thrilled to use his knowledge for the company in this city. He says that he’s excited to see the company expanding into this thriving market. The city is booming, and this location is ready to serve both leisure and business travellers.
Sixt has certainly had a busy year for expansions, as it has been opening new branches all across the globe. In March, the company announced that it entered the Southeast Asian market with premium hires in Thailand. It now has 12 branches in the nation’s business and holiday regions – including Bangkok, Phuket and Ko Samui. This was one more step in the company’s expansion throughout Asia, where it already has a presence in Singapore, India, Mongolia, South Korea, New Caledonia and Nepal.
The following month, Sixt announced its expansion in Africa, where it now offers hires in Kenya. This is the 13th nation on the continent that the company expanded its presence to. It already had locations in Libya, Nigeria, Mozambique, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan, Madagascar, Angola, Tanzania and South Africa. The same month, Sixt announced an expansion for Australia, the sixth biggest nation in the world. The company launched an extensive network of branches across Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Cairns, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Canberra and announced new locations around Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
In June, Sixt expanded its presence to another African country, Côte d’Ivoire. It initially opened two branches at the Port Bouet Airport and in the downtown area of capital Abidjan, with plans to open two more in Abidjan and Yamoussoukro this year. However, these are only some of the new branches Sixt has opened over the year.
