Sixt has announced that it will be opening a new location at Gatwick Airport. The car hire company has more than 4,000 locations across 105 countries and will be a great addition at the airport to serve the 92,650 passengers who pass through every day. The operator already has locations at Heathrow Airport and London Stansted Airport, as well as other airports throughout England and Scotland.
Travellers going through Gatwick Airport will surely find a fuel efficient, high quality vehicle that suits their needs, as Sixt offers a large fleet of compact, mid-sized and luxury cars from a range of carmakers. Customers are invited to indulge in a vehicle from the company’s luxury range, which includes Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari and more.
Gatwick airport is unique in that it’s one of the only ones that offers direct access from the terminal to the pick-up and drop-off points for car rentals. Sixt and the airport expect holidaymakers and business travellers will enjoy the advantage of not having to take a shuttle bus. The operator is well positioned to help the 33 million passengers that pass through Gatwick with their travel needs. Customers can begin booking car hire now for when the terminal site opens from 1 January 2013.
Sixt UK managing director Paul McLoughlin says that they are delighted to be opening a venue at Gatwick Airport. This is a significant milestone in their on-going growth throughout the country. Their goal is to make it simple for holidaymakers and business travellers to have access to a range of well specified, high quality vehicles supported with unparalleled service and affordable prices. They look forward to working with Gatwick’s team and providing passengers with the best mobility solution.
Gatwick Airport head of surface transport Julia Gregory says they are thrilled to welcome Sixt to the airport. Sixt is known for its innovative customer service approach, so they look forward to working with their team to provide an even better passenger experience. As one of the handful of airports that offer direct access from the terminal to car hire pick-up and drop-off points, they aim to double car hire usage and provide their passengers with even more options.
The announcement of this opening at Gatwick Airport came just a day after Sixt AG reported strong demand during the third quarter, despite the slow economy. With car rental operations in more than 70% of the European market, the company has been expanding in the US since last year, while its international business has continued growing as well. The company reported revenue gains in every country where it has a presence, some of which were significant.
Sixt says that rental revenues during the first nine months of the year have grown 7.6% from €674.3 million to €725.7 million. Its international business reported 20.1% rental revenue growth, while its US operations have started making a decent contribution. Overall, total revenue growth was 7.4%, rising from €737.4 million to €791.7 million, and pre-tax profits were 5.4% down from €99.2 million to €39.8 million.
Sixt AG chairman of the Managing Board Erich Sixt said the group continues growing, and its business performance shows how strong it is. They are pleased with their international business, and their results are more than respectable.
