SkyEurope offers new payment option for passengers
Posted on: August 6th, 2008 by Dave AndersonSkyEurope, a low cost carrier based at Bratislava’s M.R. Stefanik Airport, has decided to implement a new payment method for passengers purchasing tickets through the airline’s website. Clients may now use so-called “PaySafe” cards starting this month, and this allows for passengers to deposit cash to their “pay safe” account, which they may then use to purchase their SkyEurope tickets. This way, there is no need to use a credit card, nor is it necessary to even use a bank account.
PaySafe cards are available for purchase at nearly one hundred thousand commercial locations in Europe. This payment method simply requires cardholders to place a pre-paid amount on their account, which they may then use for internet purchases. Previously, the only way to purchase a ticket on SkyEurope’s website was by using a credit or debit card, which may have be inconvenient for some passengers. SkyEurope’s chief commercial officer, Steven Greenway, however, pointed out that increasing the level of convenience for clients was the firm’s main goal. “Some passengers do not have access to debit or credit cards that can be used for electronic payments or they simply do not want to send their card number over the internet. We believe that by introducing the possibility to pay through paysafecard we will provide access to a greater spectrum of customer segments and provide more choice by providing a payment method that avoids paying additional credit card fees,” explained Greenway.
SkyEurope is East/Central Europe’s oldest and second largest low-cost carrier. In recent years, its first place status in this region has been challenged by Wizz Air, which focuses on Hungary, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.
