Much of northern France was hit with heavy snows that caused disruptions to transportation networks throughout the region, including road delays and scores of cancelled flights.
While Britain was experiencing its heaviest snows in almost two decades, causing airport, rail and road closures, transportation on the continent has been affected as well.
Eurostar is reporting that trains are running, but passengers are advised that the severe weather is leading to delays of up to an hour.
More snow is forecast for Tuesday, and a spokesperson for Eurostar said that passengers will be allowed to reschedule their trips for any time during the next four months, at no additional charge.
The spokesperson added that the weather situation is being closely monitored and passengers are being advised to check with Eurostar’s website in advance.
Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport is reporting flights delays of up to two hours. Air France-KLM cancelled 30 of its domestic and regional services from the busy Paris airport, but indicated that long-haul services would not be affected.
Officials at Orly airport in Paris said that passengers can expect disruptions, as one runway was closed and the second runway opened two hours late.
Adverse weather has also led to problems on the roads around both Paris and Strasbourg, with the two cities reporting 119 miles of traffic jams.
