A soldier helped restore order on a Thomsonfly flight headed to Cardiff following a violent air rage incident on the plane. According to a report in the Evening Post, 29 year old Leighton James, a former soldier, gave cabin crew a helping hand after a man became aggressive and threatening on the flight, and reportedly hit one of the flight attendants. James told journalists that he first spotted the soon-to-be trouble-maker at the airport’s check-in counter, where the ex-soldier immediately got the impression that the man has consumed alcohol.
Soon after the flight took off, problems began as the same passenger began yelling and frightened passengers started congregating near the rear of the aircraft. Flight attendants were clearly unable to control the situation and James eve noticed that a stewardess was sobbing, after having been hit by the irate passenger. James realized that he would not be able to restrain the aggressive passenger by himself, as the man was far larger and had a seemingly strong build. This is when James decided to enlist the help of another passenger, with whom they tackled the out-of-control man to the ground.
The troublesome passenger was restrained for the remainder of the flight and was forced to lie flat on several seats. Although the plane continued its journey to Cardiff, it did land ahead of time, in order to hand the unnamed passenger over to authorities as soon as possible. Thomsonfly remained tight-lipped about what actually transpired on board, other than to say that an “incident” had indeed occurred.
Thank you to the Evening Post for the initial report.
