Some air and rail disruptions continues after winter storms

On Wednesday, airports in the UK began to resume normal operations following the disruptions caused by heavy snows earlier in the week.

Airports operator BAA issued a warning, however, that some flight cancellations should be anticipated as a result of the knock-on effect from earlier disruptions.

It also announced that Heathrow airport is open, with both runways operational.

“We’re working hard with the airlines to minimise disruption and operate a near full service today,” BAA said.

Gatwick airport is also open, operating at near-normal levels, but, according to the operator, a small number of delays may be experienced. Passengers are being advised to check in for their flights as normal.

Both Stansted and Southampton airports were also reported to be operating normally, and Scottish airports Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen are said to be operating at “near normal” levels.

Eurostar reported a few service cancellations for Wednesday. London to Paris services on train 9004, departing London at 6:55am and on train number 9044, departing London at 5:35pm have been cancelled.

From Paris to London, services on train 9015, departing Paris at 9:07am and train 9049, departing Paris at 5:43pm have been cancelled.

Rail passengers having reservations for these services will be allocated seats on the next available trains and are being asked to arrive in plenty of time for their new departures.
