Specialty car hire market shows signs of growth
Posted on: December 18th, 2007 by Samantha WilliamsExotic, luxury and specialty car rentals was once considered to be a small niche market, limited to a handful of drivers who were willing to pay more in order to test drive the car of their dreams, or to occasionally impress family and friends on significant occasions, such as weddings or proms. Yet the specialty or exotic car industry has been expanding at a rapid pace over the course of the past few years, especially in popular vacation destinations, such as Orlando (
Florida).
The Orlando Sentinel profiled Gotham Dream Cars, one the most prominent specialty vehicle hire companies in the
United States, in its December 18th issue. Based in both New York City and Miami, Florida,
Gotham caters to an ever growing customer base. In
Miami, most clients are looking for the most luxurious, shiny and posh-looking cars, with a special emphasis on Convertibles, due to the area’s year-round summery climate. Renting a luxury vehicle from
Gotham, however, comes with a hefty price tag. A Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, for example, is priced at $750 per day, which is more than 10 times the cost of ‘traditional’ full-size vehicle rental, from one of the larger international rental companies. Yet the Porsche is certainly not the priciest in
Gotham’s rental fleet. The Aston-Martin Vantage, for example, is now offered at a rate of $1,950 per day. A Ford GT is only slightly less expensive, at $1,750. Those clients that may still wish to rent a luxurious car, but would prefer not to empty out their wallets completely should consider renting a Hummer H2, which at $349 per day is certainly near the bottom of Gotham’s price list.
