Stansted Airport has recently been acknowledged for it efforts in trying to reduce noise pollution to the area. It followed an audit by Uttlesford District Council of its Flight Evaluation Unit (FEU).
The independent review looked into how Stansted’s FEU handled and reacted to noise levels. The team was judged by the environmental team to be well run and properly responsive to complaints.
“I’m delighted with the outcome of the audit, and thank Uttlesford District Council for its thoroughness in carrying out the study. I’d also like to thank those in the community who help and advise us. We understand aircraft noise can be a real concern for people and we’ll continue to work hard to minimise the effects as far as we possibly can,” said Graeme Wade, noise communication manager for Stansted Airport.
Just recently Stansted Airport conducted the most public consultation they have ever on noise pollution in the surrounding area. Now they want to know what the public think to their Noise Action Plan by filling out an online questionnaire. The FEU at Stansted deal with complaints about noise from planes, they look into routes and heights of aircraft and assess how much noise is produced in certain locations.
