Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. has revealed this week the sale of their Bliss spa and product firm for $100 million to Steiner Leisure Limited. As part of the deal Starwood will retain Bliss spas at their W Hotels brand and Remede spas at their St Regis hotels. The President and CEO of Starwood, Frits van Paasschen, has aid that the recent sale will help the firm concentrate on their worldwide hospitality business and shows that even in harsh economic conditions they can still assets of their business proving they have something worth buying.
Starwood had nine different hotels brands across the world and all offer some great spas that they will keep and promote as part of their great hotel deals. The Heavenly spa in Beijing has won numerous awards for their excellent products and treatments and Starwood also offer spas in some major hotel chains around the globe. Some of those brands include the Explore spa at Le Meridien and the Sine spa for the Sheraton brand.
Starwood is one the biggest hotel chains in the world with almost one thousand managed and owned hotels. They employ more than 140,000 people in 100 countries and are a name well recognised with quality and luxury. The coming year will be a testing one in the hotel industry as people are again returning to the travel market. Many hotels saw a sharp decline in 2009 as holidaymakers opted for shorter breaks if any at all. Things have already started on a high with hoteliers reporting occupancy rates rising over the last few months.
