TAM Airlines wins 2008 tourism award
Posted on: October 29th, 2008 by Robert BergersonFor the sixth time, TAM has been named the best airline in Brazil by readers of Viagem e Turismo magazine, who vote on the best operators in the country’s tourism industry each year.
“It’s an honor to receive this recognition from the readers of the magazine, an award that reflects the effort and dedication of the company’s more than 24,000 employees,” said the president of TAM Airlines, David Barioni Neto.
This year’s winners of the “2008 Best in Travel and Tourism” awards were honored at a ceremony held on October 24 at the Morro da Urca, in Rio de Janeiro.
At the same event, TAM Viagens received an award of merit from Viagem e Turismo, typically given to a company distinguishing itself in an industry sector, as determined by the staff of the magazine.
“We are very proud and happy to have been chosen by the magazine, especially when we have just completed ten years of service,” commented the director of TAM Viagens, Sylvio Ferraz, Jr.
The Best in Travel and Tourism awards were established in 2001 to select the best operators in the Brazilian and the international tourism industries. Twenty-two categories are voted on, including beaches, hotels, parks, restaurants and travel agencies, among others.
