Telegraph readers vote Jet2 best UK budget airline

Readers of the Daily and Sunday Telegraph have chosen Jet2.com as the best budget carrier in the UK, in voting for the Telegraph Travel Awards 2008. The carrier came in second in the ‘Best Low-Cost Airline’ category for Europe, behind Air Berlin, of Germany.

The announcement solidifies Jet2’s standing as the leading budget airline amongst consumers in the UK, after having been named the best short-haul carrier by Guardian and Observer readers in October.

Jet2.com had stiff competition from its low-cost competitors, who did not fare well in either of the surveys, however.

More than 25,000 readers were polled in the annual Telegraph Travel Awards. Britain’s largest travel survey asks participants about their preferred destinations, spending habits and favourite operators.

The awards were announced and distributed in London at a prestigious ceremony.
