Tescos to sell teletext holidays in their stores

A quick trip out to pick up bread, milk and eggs may may now be a little more exciting, after Tesco and Teletext Holidays announced they were joining forces to sell holidays in-store. They will be at selected shops across the UK from later this year and there will be the same great deals you can receive from using the Teletext service. It will be set up using mainly self-service style screens where shoppers can surf and look for their ideal holiday, if there are any problems assistants will be on hand to help in any way they can.

The first in-store shop will be at the Tesco in Pitsea, Essex in time for that Christmas surprise. The managing director of Teletext Holidays, Victoria Sanders, reckons that with the link-up with Tesco’s they have cut out the problem faced by many travel agents. The potential for customers is massive with so many people use Tesco for their grocery shopping daily, that could also book their holiday while there. It is all done from small booths and the latest technology will be used so customers can find what they want quickly and without hassle.

The firm plans to opened 20 stores within two years, and Chesterfield Tesco will be their flagship shop. Most will be located within Tesco’s, but a few may be found within the same vicinity. Miss sanders continued that Teletext Holidays have been around a long time selling holidays online and via TV advertising and this is just the next step in evolutionary process for the firm.
