Thailand voted best Asia destination in HotelClub awards
Posted on: November 20th, 2008 by Martin FellowesOnline accommodation specialist HotelClub.com has announced the winners in Asia’s largest hotel and hospitality awards competition.
The HotelClub Awards Asia 2008 were presented by HotelClub in cooperation with Insight Guides and WAYN.com. Winners were chosen on the basis of consumer feedback in more than 120,000 votes cast, for over 7,100 Asian hotels and resorts.
On the night of the presentations, winners were chosen from a list of 300 finalists.
The Best Destination in Asia category was won by Thailand.
Hong Kong hotels had a very good night, with The Peninsula winning the distinction of being Asia’s Most Favourite Hotel. In addition, The Salisbury – YMCA was chosen as one of the Top 3 Affordable Hotels in Asia.
Hong Kong also was recognized in the Top 5 Hotels in Asia category and the Top 3 Service Hotels category, with Lanson Place Hotel taking honours in both, and the Langham Hotel was a Top 3 Business Hotels winner.
Thailand’s Best Destination in Asia win was reinforced by its hotels and resorts, which won eight awards in the competition. Lebua at State Tower and The Peninsula Bangkok were honoured in the Top 5 Hotels category.
Twenty-nine hotels in 13 categories were selected as winners as the result of an online consumer survey that was hosted during April and May by HotelClub.com.
