Thanksgiving traffic to increase marginally

The American Automobile Association (AAA) is predicting normal Thanksgiving traffic this coming holiday season. They are predicting a rise of 1.4 per cent to 38.4 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles to get to their chosen holiday destination. Although the recession has hit many US citizens hard over the past year, it seems the desire to spend time with loved ones far outweighs the need to save money. Although they are looking for the best deals to be with family and there are some great offers at the moment. The cost of flying has been greatly reduced compared with last year, which has helped many people.

While there are so many forms of transport people can take it seems the most used will be the good old car. A massive 86 per cent are expected to make their journey in a car, while on six per cent will opt for flying. The number choosing to fly has also dropped from 2.5 to 2.3 million, but airlines have worked this well and already reduced capacity on their routes so most will still be full when it comes to travel and the busiest days are expected to be the 20th and 30th November.

A lot of prices seem to have dropped this Thanksgiving compared to last year’s costs. The average price of a gallon of fuel has dropped to $2.57 and rental cars have decreased by up to three per cent, making the car journey easier. Three diamond rated hotels with AAA are down by almost nine per cent while the two diamond accommodation has been cut by 13 per cent.
