Posted on: March 22nd, 2008 by Robert BergersonA380, the largest passenger plane in the world will begin its maiden flight from London in the month of March 2008. Let’s quickly go over some facts and figures related to this Herculean aircraft.
A380s actual maiden flight was on 27 April 2005 from the Toulouse Blagnac International airport. The first A380 delivery was made to Singapore airlines on 15 October 2007. It is the most fuel-efficient aircraft in the aviation industry today as it burns almost 17 per cent less fuel per seat in comparison to any other large aircraft in operation today. Low fuel burn eventually means lower CO2 emissions, and hence less than air pollution.
It is also considered to be the quietest among the large aircrafts and resultantly cuts down greatly on the runway noise while taking off. The plane boasts of low noise attributes not only outside the aircraft but also on the insides, hence increasing the comfort levels of its passengers.
A380 aircraft has room for a total of 555 seats in three different classes and two decks. The buying airline has the option of reducing the number of seats, making way for other facilities like the lounges, bars etc. However, if the plane is utilised only for the economy class, then it has the capacity to seat as many as 853 passengers.
