The New Zealand Green Fleet
Posted on: June 6th, 2008 by Peter HeadleyAs many vehicle rental firms seek to improve their green credentials, Apollo Motorhome Holidays in New Zealand has become the latest company to be included in the GreenFleet program.
Luke Trouchet, the agency’s chief executive said, “As the Southern Hemisphere’s largest privately owned leisure vehicle operator, we have a responsibility to minimise our environmental impact wherever possible. Apollo’s GreenFleet membership symbolises our commitment to sustainable business practices, now and in the future.”
Membership in the scheme means that to offset the emissions created by Apollo vehicles, trees will be planted around the two New Zealand cities of Auckland and Christchurch.
The fleet itself is as green as possible, using vehicles manufactured to achieve the best in fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. Aside from the vehicles themselves, Apollo is a strong advocator and provider of recycling programs. Apollo currently operates 13 branches in New Zealand, Australia and the United States.
