If you have not opened the curtain today yet and you do not like snow then the advice is to stay in bed and do not get up. Much of the UK has been blanketed with a heavy snow storm that started late yesterday afternoon. We knew it would be coming to get the rest of us when the snow started falling at Ewood Park in the Premiership match between Blackburn and Bolton. Some areas across Britain have reported that the snow is now up to six inches deep, making driving conditions get worse.
Commuters on the trains were left stuck as the snow forced delays on the railway network. Train operators have said that they are trying to run a full service for their passengers and those that might prefer to use the train instead of driving. The snow is expected to continuingly fall throughout the day in some of the worst conditions seen this year. The Met Office is saying that this could well be the coldest February that the UK has seen in the last 10 years. The snow will carry on through the week with the heaviest predicted spot to be Wales and the northwest of England.
The end of last year and the beginning of this one were the worst for freezing, icy and snowy conditions to hit Britain in a long while. Many workers did not make it back for work after the festive break because conditions were just so poor. The councils around the UK are working hard this time to try and prevent a total shutdown of our roads like that last month where they were heavily criticised.
