Thomson, a part of international leisure travel company TUI Travel PLC, is excited with the announcement, which it sees is as the result of its efforts to improve the website.
Thomson has improved its website by including thousands of locations, besides TripAdvisor reviews, customer reviews and video clips in the last year. Features like destination searches, Google maps, ‘ten hot searches’ are made available on the homepage. Customers have the liberty of either selecting the full package or just parts of it, like excursions, car hire and other extra services.
Hitwise anonymously collects data related to internet usage of the UK’s 8.3 million internet surfers through its collaboration with the ISPs, and analyses this data to chalk out a website’s ranking.
Graham Donoghue, Thomson’s New Media Director is thrilled by the development and believes that this jump to number 1 from last year’s position of 2 is a great achievement and is conducive for giving a unique experience to Thomson’s customers.
