Thrifty’s most popular car the Toyota Corolla
Posted on: November 16th, 2007 by Jean AdamsThe Toyota Corolla is Thrifty’s most popular car in South Africa, according to a report released this week by the international car rental giant. The Corolla is priced in the intermediate range and is considered to be a “C” category vehicle, that can comfortably fit four or five passengers. Most renters have found this to be the ideal vehicle to hire when going on road trips in rural South Africa, as well as within the country’s urban centres. Tourists travelling with a significant amount of luggage will also find this car more practical than smaller, compact or economical brands, as there is adequate space for up to four bags. Despite the car’s intermediate size, it is still an economical choice for those who wish to cut down on the amount of money spent on gasoline. The car’s tank holds up to 45 litres.
All of Thrifty’s Toyota Corollas are equipped with air conditioning—which is essential due to South Africa’s hot, sub-Saharan climate—as well as a radio, ABS breaks and power steering, thus adding to the overall comfort of the driving experience. An effective alarm mechanism is also installed in all vehicles, which contributes to one’s security when driving through South Africa’s major cities.
The Toyota Corolla remains one of the most popular vehicles, not only among renters, but also with buyers. Although this brand first appeared on the car market in 1986, it became the best selling automobile in 1997. Thrifty, however, offers many other cars as well in South Africa, with a fleet of over 2,500 vehicles.
