Thrifty expands fleet of rental cars
Posted on: October 21st, 2007 by Jean AdamsThrifty has purchased 2,500 new vehicles, the vast majority of which are under 12 months old. These cars will be available for customers to rent throughout
South Africa. One of the most popular of these new cars offered is the Toyota Avenza 1.5, partly due to the fact that it is available with four-speed automatic transmission. This vehicle has been a major hit in
Malaysia, where up to 40% of all Toyotas sold were comprised of the Avenza 1.5.
In addition to the Avenza, Thrifty is also offering a range of new Nissan 3060z passenger vehicles, as well as the Mercedes Benz C180, both of which are top of the line, luxury cars. These vehicles may best be suited for businesspeople attending important meetings, conferences, or other official functions. Families, however, may prefer a mid to full-size vehicle, such as the Toyota Corolla 1.4, now also available from Thrifty. This is a comfortable car for a family of up to four people—ideally two adults and two children—and there is adequate space in the trunk for one large item of luggage, as well as a small bag. The best aspect, however, is the fuel-efficient nature of this new car, as it is possible to drive for well over 100km with a full tank of gasoline. Yet since
South Africa includes rugged landscapes and countryside, which may be of special interest to tourists, visitors should consider renting one of Thrifty’s new 4×4 vehicles, as these are best suited to the rough terrain and sometimes bumpy roads.
Thrifty has been present in South Africa for over 26 years, and opened several outlets in neighbouring
Namibia five years ago.
