Thrifty expands US network of rental locations
Posted on: April 16th, 2008 by Samantha WilliamsThrifty has expanded its American network of car rental locations, by opening four franchise outlets in different states, including in Indiana, Connecticut, North Carolina and Texas. Thrifty’s vice president in charge of franchise operations, Jeff Cerefice, expressed his optimism about the new locations and noted that one of the key characteristics of the car hire firm’s strategy is the use of franchising when it comes to smaller, and intermediate-sized local markets, but corporate locations in most large cities. Cerefice observed that the four new outlets will prove to be “great additions” to Thrifty’s already extensive US network of rental locations.
The outlet that just opened in New Britain, Connecticut, is owned and operated by Salvatore Vaccaro, who has already confirmed that he has firm plans to open up several more franchise outlets in other Connecticut communities, thus significantly increasing Thrifty’s presence in this state. The owners of one of the other franchised Thrifty outlets, located in Lafayette, Indiana, also have plans to expand their business, but even as it is, Tom and Patricia Eden will be offering clients a choice of 50 rental cars by the time the peak summer season rolls around.
Thrifty Car Rental is a subsidiary of the larger Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group and has its headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Thrifty in itself, however, has a formidable presence in the car hire industry. The firm currently operates a total of 1,028 outlets in 68 countries, and has an especially strong presence in the Middle East and the Gulf region. The firm tends to appeal to leisurely travelers looking for budget travel arrangements, but is also expanding its business base.
