Thrifty Car Rental has introduced a new mobile app for the Windows Phone by Microsoft. The app allows renters to book a car hire on-the-go in just three steps. Windows Phone users are able to download the app for free from the Windows Phone Store.
This app has been built by parent company Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group in collaboration with migration.mobi and Mictosoft. It has many easy-to-use and unique features – one of which is receiving notifications about promotions and special deals at nearby Thrifty Car Rental locations. The app is customised for the simple, panoramic user interface on the Windows Phone so customers can make reservations quickly no matter when or where they are. It saves customer profiles and existing bookings so users can modify reservations, reserve more features (ie. GPS or child seats) and view details about available vehicles.
Scott Thompson, the chairman, president and chief executive of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, says that this new app for Windows Phone joins Thrifty Car Rental’s other apps to meet the changing technology needs of customers who are on-the-go. The app will allow Windows Phone owners to book, alter or cancel reservations at any Thrifty location with convenience.
Thrifty Car Rental isn’t the only Dollar Thrifty subsidiary to launch an app for the Windows Phone, as Dollar Rent A Car has done the same this week. The app is the same as the Thrifty app and was designed by the same teams. Thompson says that they are excited to release this app for the Microsoft device. The app can be downloaded for free from the Windows Phone Store as well.
The introduction of these apps follow the car rental providers announcing the launch of their own apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch in June and July. The apps were designed by Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group with the help of partner FKQ Advertising + Marketing. Their simple interface allows users to make reservations fast at any Thrifty and Dollar branches around the world. Thrifty Blue Chip members and a majority of corporate clients can reserve rentals with their negotiated rates.
Additionally, the apps feature Around Town City Guides, which allow users to plan their trips. It provides customers with deals and hotspots available in leading leisure destinations. Users can use hotel, restaurant and activity suggestions to plan their trips. Both the Thrifty and Dollar apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
Thompson said at the time of these launches that they strive to meet the changing preferences of consumers and have developed their mobile strategy to do that. They view these apps as natural extensions of their existing mobile strategy, which has grown tremendously over the last year. These offerings will give customers the convenience of booking no matter when and where they are.
