Thrifty offers car rental at one dollar per day

On one-way rentals from Tampa’s international airport to eight airports in the US Midwest and Northeast, Thrifty car rental is offering rental customers a $1 daily base rate, to help reposition the vehicles in its fleet.

The deal is available at thrifty.com and by phone. Fees and taxes apply in addition to the basic daily rate, which means that the total cost for renting a Chrysler Sebring or similar vehicle from a Sunday through a Tuesday, travelling from Tampa International Airport to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, would come to $13.32, for example.

In comparison, the daily rates typically charged by Thrifty Car Rental from Tampa to Chicago range from $42.25 for an economy-sized car up to $86.42 for a van.

Other airports where a car can be dropped-off include Chicago’s Midway Airport; Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio airports; the Kansas City, Missouri airport; the Louisville, Kentucky airport; and Philadelphia’s international airport.

The maximum rental period for cars offered at the $1 rate is seven days.

Thrifty is also offering similar deals from airports in Florida – including Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Miami, Orlando and West Palm Beach.

For car rental customers headed to Europe, Thrifty has one-way deals on offer in Croatia and Serbia.
