Seniors sometimes get the impression that many car hire firms are hesitant to rent them a vehicle. Some companies do, for example, refuse to rent cars to those over a certain age. Thrifty, however, appears to be reaching out to seniors by offering them a 5% discount across the board whenever they rent a car. Canadian citizens aged 55 and over are eligible to receive this reduction and the promotional is valid until December 31st, 2008. All cars come with unlimited kilometers and rates are always quoted in Canadian dollars. In order to receive weekly rates, cars must be booked for at least five consecutive days. Economy class vehicles rented at Thrifty’s Trudeau Airport location in Montreal are available for approximately $52 per day, if the total rental period is less than one week. When hired on a weekly basis, the daily rate drops to under $35. In order to take advantage of this deal, however, clients must be sure to reserve their car at least 24 hours in advance, by using Thrifty’s main website (thrifty.com). When completing the interactive form, renters must key in the correct promotional code (namely, “CSNRS”) and the system will automatically deduct 5% from the regular price. The rental fee, however, does not include an insurance package, so clients must be sure to check with their credit card issuer or personal auto insurance provider to see if their policy extends to rental vehicles. If not, Thrifty offers damage waivers, starting at $24.99 per day. Clients should also keep in mind that certain holiday and black-out periods may apply, especially during peak travel periods, such as Canadian Thanksgiving, Christmas and during certain times in the summer.
