Titanic themed hotel to launch at Belfast shipyard

Harland & WolffFormer offices at the Belfast shipyard which built the RMS Titanic are set to get a new lease of life as a hotel themed on the ill-fated super liner. The redundant drawing offices at the Harland & Wolff shipyard are undergoing refurbishment and will welcome their first paying guests on the 10 September.

The four-star establishment’s décor and accoutrements are themed on the Titanic. Reproduction drawings and pictures of the Titanic abound while rich, dark wood gives a tastes of the original vessel. Retro touches such as bathroom sinks on old Singer treadle sewing machines and Edwardian floor tiles add that little period touch.

The office’s mullion windows are still in place and provide views similar to those the Titanic’s draughtsmen and notable former executives such as William Pirrie enjoyed. The collection of rooms and suites at the Titanic Hotel are being fitted with all mod-cons and will offer bonuses including super-soft bedding and mattresses, and rain-showers.

The Titanic is not lacking in the amenities department either. A team of creative chefs are being draughted in to offer diners unique culinary experiences. The large nave-like hall where the rank-and-file draughtsmen toiled will be a fully-equipped meeting and function facility with a capacity of 250 guests.

The dining room has been chosen for its views over the slipways which saw the Titanic, the Britannic and the hundreds of other ships built by Harland & Wolff take to the waves. The Titanic hotel is within a few minutes on foot of Titanic Quarter attractions the SS Nomadic and Wee Tram Tour stops plus the SSE events arena, HMS Caroline and the Northern Ireland Science Park.
