Tough Travel to Champions League Final

Supporters of Manchester United from Northern Ireland should expect dreadful transportation when traveling to Moscow for the Champion’ League final next month.

After defeating Barcelona 1-0 at Old Trafford more than one thousand Reds fans are anticipated to travel to Russia in May. The same problems will arise for the fans of Chelsea or Liverpool in the second battle of the semi-finals. There are no non-stop flights from Belfast and just a few costly flights from places such as London, Dublin or Manchester. For most, attending the game will not be simple.

The two teams in the final will be given twenty-one thousand tickets each. Most of the tickets cost between 67 GPB and 117 GPB. The visa fee will be 95 GPB and amenities in one of the highest priced cities worldwide. The cost of attending in the final football game could cost as much as 1000 GPB. It usually takes about six weeks to get a Russian visa.

UEFA has made agreements with the Moscow embassy to speed along any visa applications for travelers that have tickets to the Champion’s League final.

The Manchester United issued a statement on their travel website that said, “Supporters traveling with charter flights approved by the club will benefit from an unprecedented facilitated visa procedure that will be detailed in the days to come. ManUtd.com will bring you further details when they are announced.”

At least fifty thousand football fans are anticipated to be in Moscow, causing a fear of lack of hotel rooms.

According to the branch secretary of the Manchester United Fan Club, most football fans will not mind traveling the distance. He says, “I don’t think fans really care where a final is, as long as their team is playing. If UEFA decided to expand and go even further to play games in Siberia or even Australia, United fans would still go.”
