A travel agent formerly employed at Travel Counsellors recently developed an innovative new technology which will make traveling with small children less of a hassle especially when car hire is involved. Grainne Kelly’s new portable child seat is ideal for families who are planning on taking a trip or who travel a lot out of necessity.
This mom of two from Northern Ireland was travelling back and forth to England fairly often and saw the need arise more than once for a handy, portable booster seat. She said that every time she booked a car rental, she would find that upon arrival the hire company had no child seats available, despite having reserved them ahead of time.
So, with that in mind, Mrs. Kelly took it upon herself to develop an easy-to-inflate portable child booster for moms and dads on-the-go. The inventions inception occurred when Kelly searched the market for portable car seats after several clients had had similar issues with car hire bookings, and she was surprised to find nothing available in terms of travel child seats.
Last year, Kelly went to China to look into making a prototype of her inflatable booster seat and was able to receive her first shipment of the product in December. Since then, after securing approval from the EU, Kelly has been using the internet to sell her child seats.
Kelly is also poised to sign several distribution deals with major retailers across the UK. In fact, travel companies have even shown interest in carrying her product. Angela Day, managing director at Affordable Car Hire, stated that she had considered offering a similar type of booster on her website as an alternative means for parents traveling with small kids.
