Travelers on BA flights through Heathrow prepare for lost luggage

The Los Angeles Times has recently published a report on Heathrow’s luggage woes and also offered up some tips on how to prepare for a BA flight destined to Heathrow and what passengers should know if their luggage gets lost.
If you find yourself at Heathrow without your bags following a BA flight, it is important to remember that British Airways is responsible for your luggage and if they have lost it, the passenger is generally entitled to various forms of compensation. For example, if lost bags require the traveler to go out and purchase new clothing, BA will usually be able to provide a reimbursement for these expenses. Additionally, business travelers who have to attend a meeting and find that they are left without appropriate attire can also purchase this and expect BA to cover the costs. According to the airline’s policies, BA is willing to pay a maximum of $1500 for each piece of lost luggage.
