Travelodge celebrates British holiday traditions with 99p cream teas

From 22 May, Travelodge will be offering traditional cream teas at just 99p at all hotels in tourist locations in celebration of the return of the traditional British holiday.

The cream tea includes a choice of teas, a scone, a pot of Cornish clotted cream and a choice of either raspberry or strawberry jam. It is cheaper than the price of a cup of tea on its own in many cafes, and is being called the best afternoon tea offer by Keith Newton, founder of Afternoontea.co.uk.

Guy Parsons, the managing director of the Travelodge group, commented that with more people expected to take their holidays in the UK this year, the budget-priced cream tea should prove to be a “big attraction”.

“Our seaside and tourism locations are booming and we know that these customers want to enjoy our culture’s great traditions including the cream tea,” he said.

In a Travelodge survey of 6,000 Britons, 48 per cent replied that they had afternoon tea while they were on a short break or a holiday in the UK.

Travelodge will be offering the cream teas in hotel cafes in popular tourist locations such as Blackpool and London, among others.
