TUI car rental content to be distributed by Travelport

TUI Travel and GDS Travelport have signed an agreement that will see Travelport distributing TUI’s car rental content to travel agents that use Galileo. Both parties indicated that additional tie-ups are also under consideration.

Later this summer, the car rental content will be available to agents through a direct connection with TUI’s car hire platform, giving them access to car rentals in approximately 24,000 locations and at more than 50,000 broker locations.

The new deal will mean that agents using Galileo will have access to local car hire that was not previously bookable through their system – for example, Avia in the Canary Islands Auto Jardim in Portugal and Nizza Cars in Andalucia.

Jane Lewis, Travelport’s senior director for hospitality and car rental, EMEA and Asia Pacific, commented: “We are always looking for relevant new content to offer our agency customers so that they can offer even better customer service and increase their revenue streams at a time of reduced commissions.  The new car hire content provided through this agreement with TUI Travel really complements our current content offering.”

Andreas Nau, the head of product platforms and strategic buying at TUI Travel, said: “Our loyal local car hire suppliers now have the possibility to approach new customer segments otherwise out of their reach.”
