TUI Travel Raises Profit Predictions and Changes the Way It Recruits Workers

TUI Travel LogoFinally there is some good news to report for TUI Travel. The company has announced that it increased its full-year profit predictions. This announcement was made on Thursday despite all of the unrest in Egypt, which is one of this tour operator’s major attractions. Experts in the travel industry were shocked to hear this considering the fact that TUI Travel had originally admitted that the unrest in Egypt had taken a toll on demand for holidays this winter.

The chief executive of TUI Travel, Peter Long, said that the summer season was strong for the group. Despite the unusually warm weather that was seen in Europe, travellers decided to stay at home. TUI Travel really benefited from last-minute bookings.

After this news was brought to light, shares for TUI Travel jumped by 2 percent to 362p. This jump was clearly related to the new profit prediction. The question is, “Will this increase stick?” After all, right now these profit increases are just rumours. Either way, TUI Travel cannot be upset about an increase it stock prices. After all, shares for its rival Thomas Cook fell by 6 percent. Thomas Cook said that winter trading has been very slow this year and has caused them to lower their projected profits.

In other TUI Travel news, the tour operator announced it is changing the way it recruits workers. The company said that it wants to make it easy for people to apply and join the group. Of course, this is hard to do because of the sheer amount of jobs and opportunities available at TUI Travel. To streamline the whole process, the company says that its website will now handle all of the recruitment of new workers under the TUI Travel name.

This now gives potential employees more access to information about different brands under TUI Travel. Recruitment used to be handled by the individual brands themselves. This made it confusing for   people who wanted to apply to certain jobs. Now the TUI Travel website makes it extremely easy.

This is big news since the company is currently looking to recruit more than 1,500 people. These people will be needed to fill 100 different job roles. Not only that, but these jobs are actually spread out over nine different countries. All of these jobs need to be filled by the summer of 2014.

The fact that TUI Travel is hiring so many people is great news for the UK. Right now the unemployment market is still flooded with people who are looking for work. Although these 1,500 jobs are not going to change that, it will give some people a chance to get a job. It is also a sign that the travel industry is starting to bounce back. With TUI Travel looking to hire so many people, it will not be long before other companies are looking to do the same thing.
