TUI Travel says summer holidays looking up

One of the largest tour operators in Europe, TUI Travel, have said that they are having to schedule more holidays into their summer market as the booking have surpassed themselves already this year. TUI say that the race is on for that summer holiday as people are looking to book up early and get the best deal they can for their money.

It would seem that the economic crisis is slowing down across Europe and holidaymakers are again heading for summer sun on the continent. The last 18 months have been bad in the travel industry as many would-be travellers tightened their money belts and opted to stay at home instead of having a foreign holiday.

Those British that stayed in the UK last year were originally promised a great summer, but it was soon apparent that it would be the usual washout. Many struggled to book last minute getaways in the hope of seeing some sun, and this year they are not taking that chance again.

Among one of the highest regions in Europe where summer holiday had risen by quite a bit was Scandinavia. They have experienced a rise of 40 per cent for summer holidays against the same time period last year as the prospect of another cold one has hit home. British holidaymakers avoided countries in the euro last year, because of the weak pound. With current fluctuations in the pound it looks like we might see a few more Brits hitting the Spanish beaches.
