UK in for short weather respite
Posted on: January 18th, 2010 by Taylor SmithThe snow has hampered many of us over these past few weeks making it possible to get into work and for many that was not such a bad thing. The unlucky few who had to work from home still managed to get outside and enjoy the snow with the family, but with typical British style the weather has quickly changed. The thaw started and that snow had to go somewhere with widespread flooding across the UK as the ground was still to frozen to soak up much of the excess water.
Temperatures this week are expected to rise and compared to the past two weeks it should feel quite mild outside and you may even be able to take that scarf off. However, do not pack it away as the freezing conditions are not thought to be away for long, as by the end of the week and beginning into the following, the icy winds and freezing temperatures are expected to return with a little kick and more possibilities of that cute white stuff falling again leading to us having to again stay at home.
With the previous bad weather at least the government has had a trial run and hopefully we will cope better this time around. Major disruptions on roads and transport services caused chaos to much of the UK. Airports had to be shut, trains services cancelled and motorists were left trapped by snow drifts overnight and had to wait for ploughs to come and clear the way for them.
