Police in Sussex say they urgently wish to question the son of US film star Tom Hanks over allegations he destroyed a Gatwick Airport hotel room. Chester Hanks, aka Chet Haze, stayed at Crawley’s Arora International Hotel late last month and is alleged to have caused damage to the tune of £1,200 to one of its rooms.
A statement issued by Sussex Police says officers responded to a call from the hotel at 15:15 on Friday 29 May 2015. It continued by saying that an inspection of the room in question revealed it had been badly damaged and officers wished to question a 24-year-old US national about the incident.
The statement finished off with a note saying Sussex Police had contacted international police agencies with a view to interviewing the suspect. An unidentified hotel worker says the man police did not name is the wanna-be rapper and son of Tom Hanks.
Chet Haze seems to be aware of Sussex Police’s interest in questioning him over the damage. On Monday, he uploaded a photograph to Instagram of a note with a caption telling people not to be scared of saying f*** you.
Underneath the image, Hanks added a line saying he was posting from the offices of his lawyer and the caption was a suitable adage to live by. Although, Hanks’s Instagram account shows a number of photographs depicting him enjoying himself in London, police say they do not know for sure whether he has left the UK or not.
