The US carrier, United Airlines, have extended their airmiles programmes to give customers some great options of were to spend their airmiles. For a majority of airlines you can only use frequent flyer miles with the airline you gained them with, but starting from the 1st October 2009 United’s miles can now be used to gain rooms at hotels all across the world and hire cars within the US and Canada.
According to the vice president of Mileage Plus, Robert Sahadeven, the carrier has introduced this great new offer right at the time when they feel the public could most use it. A worldwide recession has hit the world economy and a few luxuries have been forsaken including car rental, but now United customers can make use of their airmiles for hotels and car hire at their chosen destination. Visitors to their website can combine the bookings all in one easy page and have their flights, hotel and car reservation all completed under one booking.
For those with frequent flyer miles to use a simple search on their website will result in a whole list of cars and hotel options, all given with the price in airmiles. A two-day stay in downtown Los Angeles at the Sheraton Hotel with a car hire for the duration would start at around 40,000 airmiles. In addition to these deals United have just about waived all extra charges on their late deals booked with airmiles to save the consumer even more miles.
