United offers double reward points on West Coast flightsUnited offers double reward points on West Coast flights
Posted on: September 7th, 2007 by Martin FellowesUnited Airlines is offering double rewards points for select flights on the West Coast of the United States. The majority of flights that offer extra air miles are in California—such as between San Francisco and Los Angeles—but it is also possible to collect these reward points on the San Francisco-Las Vegas route. In order to qualify for the double points promotional, tickets must be booked and purchased by October 5, 2007 and all fights must be completed by November 14, 2007.
In order to qualify for the points, flights must be booked as round-trips, between two qualifying destinations. Trips do, however, include routes operated by United Express, as well as Ted—both of which are subsidiaries of United Airlines—but not on any code-share flights, even if they were advertised by United. Any resident of the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands may earn these extra points. It is, however, necessary to register for United’s frequent flyer program, Mileage Plus, which is free of charge. It is also highly advisable to book tickets online, using United Airlines’ website, as any ticket purchased at a counter or through a telephone representative, can incur an additional $15 to $20 charge, each way.
Travelers can expect to have their earned reward points credited to their account within six weeks of their return flight. As an added benefit, it is possible to earn an unlimited number of miles, as there is no ceiling on the number of times one can make a qualifying flight within the travel period.
United Airlines is one of the major flagship carriers in the United States. Although the company is considered to be a full-service airline, meals are not served on domestic routes to economy class passengers.
