US Airways passengers given more choice in meals

Passengers aboard US Airways will now be able to enjoy more choice in terms of on-board meals, provided that they are willing to pay for them. Like most airlines in

North America, US Airways has also adopted the on-board café business strategy, which has brought an end to free food and snacks on most domestic flights, but opens up the possibility for passengers to choose from a better selection of meals, for relatively moderate prices.

US Airways is now offering light meals, such as salads, sandwiches and pastas, as well as snack boxes, for between $5 and $7. According to the carrier, these meals are generally healthier than what was offered previously, as they are made from high quality ingredients, and passengers also have many more items to choose from than before. The new meal options are now available on all US Airways flights that are at least 3.5 hours in duration. These would, for example, include most flights from the northeastern United States, out to the West coast, as well as flights destined to the Caribbean and some countries in

Latin America.

Some of the meals include breakfast bagels with a plate of cheese and cold cuts for $7, French toast with ham and a side of fruits, and orange chicken salad, also available for $7. Snack boxes are priced at $5, and include a small chicken salad, crackers, a fruit bar, nut mix and cookies. All non-alcoholic drinks are still offered free of charge on all US Airways flights, while spirits are available for $5.
