US in Demand as Easter Car Hire Goes Cheap
Posted on: February 26th, 2008 by Martin Fellowes26 February 2008 – An early Easter and varying school holidays are helping keep holiday car hire prices down, according to price comparator Carrentals.co.uk, but demand for US rental is up as travellers look to cash in on the weak US$.
Carrentals.co.uk, which compares prices from over 45 of the leading car rental companies, has seen Easter bookings for US destinations such as Florida, New York and Boston, grow by 10% year on year as a growing number of people take advantage of the strong exchange rate and cheap trans-Atlantic flights to head stateside.
“The dates of Easter have thrown the traditional school holidays out of sync this year,” says Gareth Robinson, managing director of Carrentals.co.uk. “As a result holidays tend to be spread out more evenly, helping keep prices down. However, for any customers heading to the US, we would recommend booking car hire quickly. Demand across the top locations has been very strong as people are attracted by the value for money a trans-Atlantic trip offers.”
Other popular Easter getaways, according to Robinson, include the Canaries, the Alps, and southern Spain and Portugal.
Prices for one week’s car hire start from £12* per day at Orlando Airport, from £18* per day at New York JFK, and from £13* per day at Tenerife Airport North.
