US now more accessible to the UAE

People living in the United Arab Emirates can now benefit from a code sharing agreement between American Airlines and Etihad Airways. Many more flights between the two countries will be on offer and the two carriers are among the top air travel companies in the world. The new agreement comes into play this week and Etihad Airways have just launched a new flight route to Chicago that starts on September 2nd 2009.

The new code share agreement will link places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston and Washington with Abu Dhabi. The ‘EY’ code that is owned by Etihad will be placed on many transatlantic flights operated by American Airlines as well as a few domestic routes that run beyond New York and Chicago. American Airlines will also place their ‘AA’ code on flights between Abu Dhabi and Paris, Dublin, Frankfurt, Manchester, Milan, Chicago and New York.

One of the added benefits of the new code share agreement between the two aviation giants is that customers who are transferring between the two carriers will be able to do so on the one ticket and they can also enjoy the benefits of being able to check-in their baggage for their final destination at the beginning of the journey, rather than having to collect it on the transfer.
