Avis will serve as the US Ski and Snowboarding Association’s official car hire company, according to Ski Racing, a snow-sports journal. This organization plays a key role in the training of US athletes for the Winter Olympic games every four years and the selection of Avis by this association promises to offer many benefits for the car rental giant. The organization’s 30,000 members—including professional athletes, as well as coaches—will now be more likely to turn to Avis when in need of a rental vehicle.
In addition to the important benefits for Avis, the association’s members also stand to enjoy key advantages. As of January 2008, they will receive preferential rates from Avis, and a range of specially designed discounts and promotional offers. The parents of winter sports athletes, as well as sports fans will also enjoy many of these same benefits. As such, well over 100,000 people are expected to turn to Avis for reduced rates and other special offers.
Both the US Ski and Snowboarding Association and Avis are now gearing up together for the most important upcoming event, namely the 2010 Winter Games in
Vancouver, British Columbia. According to Ted Morris, the Association’s vice president in charge of marketing, Avis will play a key role in transporting both athletes and their families to
Vancouver. He expressed confidence in the car rental giant and noted that he thinks that the agreement with Avis is a perfect match. Avis also responded by observing that the company’s slogan is “We try harder,” which is also applicable to the Association’s athletes who will aim to take the top prize at the Olympics.
