VIA Rail, Canada’s national passenger railway operator, has announced that it has almost finished upgrading its loyalty program, Via Preference and will also add extra features to its website (http://www.viapreference.com/) in order to reflect these changes. The company’s goal is to make it much simpler to keep track of how many points members have accumulated and also book free train travel when the client has gathered together the requisite number of points.
Joining the VIA Preference program is free of charge and is most recommended for those who travel by train at least once every couple of months. Loyalty program members get to earn one point for every dollar they spend on their ticket. For example, a student travelling with a discounted ticket from Montreal to Ottawa will usually be able to earn around 32 points each way. As an added benefit, now available thanks to the VIA upgrade, Preference members will be offered bonus points if they book their ticket online and if they pick up their travel documents at self-serve kiosks available at all major railway stations.
VIA Rail offers passenger rail service throughout much of Canada. One of its busiest and most popular lines runs from Quebec City to Windsor, connecting major urban center such as Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto along the way. Passengers may always choose between Comfort (economy) class and VIA One (premium service) where clients are offered a complimentary meal and drinks. Those in Comfort may purchase snacks and beverages on board.
